After School Courses
Byrd Academy After School Courses offer students a deeper dive into the four elements of the MESH'D Framework (Manufacturing, Electronics, Software, and Holistic Design). Your student can participate in either one of our Explore or Build courses to deepen their understanding in the STEAM topics that we cover.
Explore Courses
Our Explore Courses offer students the deepest dive into the MESH'D Framework. By focusing on one concept at a time, students can work on developing their skills in each of the areas. These courses include a series of lessons and mini-projects aligned to each area of development. We are offering three Explore Courses during the 2021-2022 school year as outlined below and will cost $150 for the 6 week course.

Build Courses
Our Build Courses are project-based experiences where students focus on building a single object and use all of the skills associated with MESH'D Framework. Build Courses give students the opportunity to learn a little bit of everything in an 8 week period. We are offering two Build Courses this school year as outlined below and will cost $200.
DIGITAL WATCH
JAN 10 - FEB 28
- Design & 3D print watch band
- Build circuits for digital face
- Add buttons for capabilities
- Program watch to count
MINI ROVER
MAR 21 - MAY 9
- Assemble rover
- Design & 3D print additions
- Add sensors and build circuits
- Program movements
Courses will meet on Tuesdays and Thursday as described below and will take weeks off during school breaks.
Course Levels
We know that age does not always determine skill level (both hard skills and soft skills) so we have left our levels open and offer the placement tool below for you as the parent to determine where they should start.
